Red White Console was established in July 2020. The goal is to establish a platform for communicating theories and findings from contemporary game research to advance the knowledge of game design. The ability to motivate and engage players is one of the most intriguing and distinctive characteristics of games. Realizing the motivational potential is crucial for games to be successful. Sustained motivation and engagement are particularly important for games to achieve their intended outcomes such as enjoyment and learning. Design decisions can be informed by theories and empirical evidences in game research to facilitate games to achieve their full potential.
